Using your TV remote control for OpenView

You may be able to use your TV remote control on OpenView but it depends on your TV model.  The simple idea is that commands are sent from your TV remote controller to your TV and then your TV sends those commands down the HDMI cable to OpenView.
The technical name for this is CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) over the HDMI port.
CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is the control protocol found in HDMI. Trade names for CEC are Anynet+ (Samsung); Aquos Link (Sharp); BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync (Sony); HDMI-CEC (Hitachi); E-link (AOC); Kuro Link (Pioneer); CE-Link and Regza Link (Toshiba); RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) (Onkyo); RuncoLink (Runco International); SimpLink (LG); HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync, VIERA Link (Panasonic); EasyLink (Philips); and NetCommand for HDMI (Mitsubishi).
This is an example using an LG TV.  When OpenView boots a message is briefly displayed at the bottom right corner of the TV screen informing you that OpenView CEC is working.
Selecting HDMI1 on the LG TV
Press the Green button on the TV remote for Simplink
Turn SimpLink on
You can now control OpenView using your LG TV remote
